The newly elected mayor of the Kumba III council John Kona Makia has been cautioned by the Senior Divisional Officer for Meme
Kulbout Aman David to establish a good relationship with the Kumba City council.
The Meme boss dished out this piece of advice during the ceremony to officially install the newly elected mayor and his team last Friday, November 29. Unlike in the past where the three sub councils used to disagree with the City council the SDO insisted for a good relationship for the sake development of the municipality.
In his speech while congratulating the outgoing regime of the council for the level of development they had attained the SDO also tasked the new mayor to put order in the transport motorbike sector.
Beside these, he urged Mayor Makia to organize regular cleaning-up campaigns to unblock drainages and above all to ensure discipline amongst revenue collectors.
The event which took place at the premises of the Kumba III council brought together all the five mayors from the five municipalities of Meme Division along side their deputies.
Unlike in the other councils (Kumba I and II) where the outgoing mayors were absent at the installation ground, the presence of the outgoing mayor, Barrister Ndeme Samuel Takem was highly noted with the joy with which he welcomed his successor.
John Kona Makia was born in 1975 in Limbe. He did his primary education at the St. Anthony Primary school Kumba where he had his First School Leaving Certificate. In 1995 and 1997 he got his Ordinary and Advanced levels from Sasse College Buea and St. Francis College Kumba respectively.
He graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Buea and has since been militating with the SDF party and attending seminars on conflict management and rubber production. He is to be assisted by two deputy mayors male and female.
The first deputy Madam Hannah Elonge who before now has served as deputy mayor in the Kumba II council is expected to apply her experience to assist in the duties of the council.
While the second deputy, Youashi Peter a University Don and Agronomist is expected to apply his knowledge and expertise to help foster development of the area especially in the agricultural sector.
