Update.direct, Stuttgart Germany, Jan 02…… Cameroonians home and abroad have this time read their president’s end of year speech even before H.E President Paul Biya, himself did it live on state own television, CRTV.
Though no particular individual or group of persons have been blamed for the leak, many are of the opinion that the speech must have been leaked by an insider, and they have sworn to believe any story told by insider from the unity palace.
The speech spread like wild fire over the social media mostly on whatsaap, few hours before the president appeared on television for live broadcast.
What many have found hard to believe is the fact that no official statement has been made over the leak. While many are saying that it was a well calculated strategy to get the views of Cameroonians before the hour of broadcast, another group of people are saying that it was a strategy instead to blindfold Cameroonians to think that the president is in the country as some believe that the traditional end of year speech was done, edited and only broadcast on 31st of December2016, while the Head of state was already out of the country.
Besides the leak, Cameroonians home and abroad, and mostly Anglophones have criticized the president’s end of year speech which they say did not addressed the Anglophone problem which has now escalated to peaceful protest home and abroad. In his speech, the president labeled the Anglophone protesters as extremists, manipulated and instrumentalized demonstrators.
As the days go by, the peaceful protest by English speaking Cameroonians is turning bloodyas many Anglophones have lost their lives and property.
Government negotiations with the angered group, Lawyers and Teachers) have failed as Anglophones argue that their demands were never met and most of the pending issues were never addressed.
Back home, Anglophones have planned an all Anglophone regions’ and in the Diaspora, peaceful protest to take place tomorrow, January 2nd. So sad some are already paying the price for tomorow’s peaceful protest as some arrests have already been made back home.
